For this assignment, I started by simply thinking of what short phrases I know that could be illustrated simply, but recognizably. I decided on the phrase "no popo" from the game Nuclear Throne. I chose the statement because the phrase is easily separated into three two letter parts, making it easy to fit it into the three sections of a police light, which came from the statement itself. I also used a police light for the illustration so that I could practice shadows and lighting a little bit, which mostly occurred on the middle "po." The consistency of an o in every two letter section combined with the fact the whole statement is in lower case also helped the emphasis on the fact the light is supposed to be symmetrical, despite the fact it clearly isn't. The main trouble I had with the assignment was with the shadows/lighting around the middle and the presentation of the outside sections being lights, though this was what I was aiming to improve in the first place. I also had a few problems with the 3D rendering of the letters, but that happened mostly with the curves on the Ps.
Uses cassette tape dimensions. Designed for the collection of artists and music used in the game Hotline Miami.
